CHATTER FROM THE MUSE

utility company's that massacre trees!!!!!

This has nothing to do with my books folks.  I'm furious and want to know if you have this problem in your area.

I grew up in a town that had tree lined streets.  It also had utility lines.  Somehow they managed to protect the lines without destroying the trees.

Our local utility company hired a presumed professional tree service to trim tree limbs that were touching utility wires.  Our village is noted for beautiful tree lined streets.  Trees down the street from my home were gently trimmed where necessary leaving the softness of leaf covered limbs intact.

I have no idea what came over them but two beautiful trees across from my home are now total eyesores.  They cut every branch back to the tree trunk from top to bottom. removing the front half of each tree.  This senseless butchering of our trees has reduced the value of our homes in an already extremely difficult market.  My neighbors and myself have worked very hard to make front yards as appealing and attractive as possible.  Our hard work has been totally destroyed by these improperly trained extremely unprofessional tree trimmers.

I am writing to our village government, our news paper, and anyone I can think of to get something done.  Those horribly deformed trees should be completely removed by the utility company and new trees planted to eventually replace those trees.  I'm not talking two foot twigs either.  Nothing less than a 20 foot tree is acceptable.

I am furious over this.  Has anyone out there had this problem and got some kind of resolution.  I would really like to hear from you.
