CHATTER FROM THE MUSE

Old and lovin' it.

December 8, 2012
I checked the site of a writer on Twitter today.  The young man really dislikes anyone with some years showing.  How sad that he doesn't know what a thrill he has coming when he sheds his youth and finds a wrinkled old man staring back at him from his mirror.

Only then will he learn that moving into the sunset years of life is such an exhilarating time. The days rush by at breakneck speed.  You find yourself planning and working to pack as much as possible into each day.  All those "someday I'll do that, dreams" come to mind and you realize "someday" is here.  There is no way to explain the satisfaction and pure joy you feel as you tic off as many "somedays" as possible.  For me three of my strongest dreams are becoming a reality.

I have a flower garden in the front yard that actually has people in cars stopping to tell me how much they enjoy seeing it.

Piano lessons are slowly developing the skill I want.  I am learning a beautiful mix of music from Bach to Joplin.

Of course, the big thrill is my writing.  I have wanted to write since I first discovered words.  I can finally say "I am a writer!."

Oh yes, one other thrill,  I'm Old.  I have a saggy chin from years of gasping at the beauty around me.  I have deep creases at the corner of each eye from a lifetime of laughter and beautiful pure white hair that says I am my mother's daughter.  Life is good!

Its a natural process to become old and its really funny that young person dislikes the old age because he can't stop this.

An fascinating discussion is price comment. I believe that you must write extra on this topic, it might not be a taboo subject but usually people are not sufficient to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers
