My daughter and I have this thing about bees. When she was a very little girl I always made her a corsage to wear to church on Easter morning. It was a simple daffodil with a tiny fuzzy bee inside, attached with a fine wire. A pretty bow to match her outfit made it complete.
For her wedding, I tucked a tiny fuzzy bee in with the roses in her bouquet. I knew from her loud laughter as she came down the aisle, she had discovered the bee.
Through the years we also developed a fondness for sunflowers and the song I sang to her - "You are my sunshine." One mother's day I opened the box she gave me and found a sunflower music box with a small bee sitting on the face of the sunflower. I wound it up to discover it played "You are my sunshine." Neither of us could hold back the tears!
