CHATTER FROM THE MUSE

Grandchildren

I keep a list of grandchildren on my Christmas Card list.  I started the list so I could remember all their names. This year when I sent my annual Christmas letter, I added a new greatgrand baby to the list.  I have a very large family.  I have been widowed three times.  During each marraige I inherited step children and grandchildren.  I am Grandma Nancy to all of them and love each and every one.  I remember the births of all but one.  She was seven when I married her grandfather.  Now she is the beautiful mother of two of my greatgrandchildren -(her eldest is in college.  Where do the years go?)

Grandchildren are such a blessing.  I said I never understood eternity until I held my first grandchild in my arms.  It is a thrill to watch them mature and carry our hopes and dreams into the future.

In my very large blended family I have 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and 1great-greatgrandchild.  I have a secret wish.  Some Christmas I want to rent a hall big enough to get my entire family together.  What a thrill that would be!

Wow! 14 grandchildren? That's awesome! I wish I would have a lot of grandchildren when I grow old.
