CHATTER FROM THE MUSE

A very dark place

It has been so long since I was able to post on my blog.  I have really missed staying in touch.  As you know, my husband has been through numerous critical health issues since late December when he got his pacemaker.  We have been in a very dark place.  He has factor 5 which is a blood disease that causes his blood to clot easily and makes any kind of surgery a nightmare to find that fine balance where the blood is thin enough to prevent clotting but thick enough to allow healing.  It took many weeks of blood tests and drug adjustments for the blood that accumulated around the pacemaker during surgery to be absorbed and the area to heal.  He was no sooner out of that danger when he bumped his head on the door frame of the car getting out of the car.  This caused a bleed in his brain and a rush to the ICU in the neurology department.  Even after the bleeding stopped terrible things happened because of the dried blood causing pressure on parts of the brain.  He suffered memory loss, speech problems, and seizures along with balance issues.  When he was finally allowed to come home, a doctor who is not trained in the problems of Factor 5,  took him off his blood thinner.  Within a few days he developed numerous blood clots in his lungs and a rush back to neurology.  Proper medication and three weeks in rehab finally put him on the road to recovery.

He is home now, walking with a cane and learning to be very careful of any situation that could cause a fall.

My love of words and writing has taken a back seat to my love and concern for this wonderful man.  Hopefully, the crisis is over and I can get back to my writing world.

Thank you for checking my blog and sending such kind comments.  I am sure you understand, I really appreciate your comments but I was simply unable to respond.

I may not blog as often as before for a while but hope to get back in the swing of things soon.

I am sure many of you have blogs I would enjoy reading.  Please leave directions to your blog along with your comments.
